  • Day 16 – Day at Sea

Today was only our second day at sea (no ports) and we spent
it the quiet alcove, where we had water, fruit, and cheese served to us. It was
a bright, sunny day, but different from our previous day at sea in that it was
    very windy the entire day.
When we departed Crete the day before at 3 PM and cruised
away from the port of Souda, we had decided to go to the Solstice deck (the
highest deck on the ship) to watch as we sailed away. The views were amazing.
This was the first time we had forgotten to take the camera with us, but we did
get some pictures on our phone.
    When we left the
harbor and hit the open sea, the wind picked up tremendously and it never
stopped. This reminded me of the account of Paul when he was at Crete – the
contrary winds that they encountered. But fortunately we encountered no storm,
only lots of wind and arrived safely on time.
We thought you might enjoy a picture of our room service
breakfast.  We had many options to choose
from, but being the creatures of habit that we are, we pretty much got the same
thing each day. Our nightly ritual after downloading pictures and working on
the blog for that day, usually after midnight, was ordering breakfast on the TV
screen, requesting the time of delivery, and then having it delivered to our
cabin the next morning. It was quite convenient and we will miss that part of
    the cruise a lot.
We have mentioned several times the two couples from “down
under” that we have had the privilege to dine with every night. We have very much
enjoyed getting to know them, have loved the conversations, and do hope that
they will someday visit us in South Carolina. They are most welcomed anytime!

There is not much else to say about sea day, other than our
legs and my feet appreciated the rest and relaxation…and, we are going to bed
before midnight, one of the few times this trip.

    Good night.
